Many have felt a calling from spirit and are awakening to make a difference in this world. We, as a people, are on a vision quest. Living a vision and questing for more of who we truly can become. We invite you to discover the Nine Rites of Munay-Ki and engage the quest for deeper, broader vision of who and what you truly are.

The Nine Rites of the Munay-Ki are transmissions and attunements kept alive and handed down by lineage keepers of the wisdom traditions of shamanic cultures worldwide. The external form varies from culture to culture but the essence of the transmission is universal. What is handed down are transmissions of energetic seeds that when nurtured, quicken the path to spiritual development and enlightenment. They quicken our journey towards who and what we are becoming as a species. The seeds of these rites can grow within anyone. This is our human birthright and path.

The Munay-Ki rites, as brought to us through the Q’ero Shamans of the Peruvian Andes, are a path of fire and a path of lightning; a fast track to recognizing our true divine nature. This all is a journey in space, time and energy. The  Munay-Ki is the  rocket fuel for this journey.

NINE GREAT RITES OF THE MUNAY-KI

The Nine Rites of the Munay-Ki consists of two type of rites. The Foundation Rites and the Lineage Rites. The Foundation Rites consist of  The Healer’s Rite, The Bands of Power, The Harmony Rites and The Seers’ Rite prepare us with the needed tools for the initiations to come. These Foundation Rites prepares our luminous energy field to hold the vibration and power available in the next five rites, the Lineage Rites

MUNAY = LOVE FROM THE HEART

KI = ENGAGED AND IN MOTION

Foundation Rites

Healer’s Rite

Connects you to a lineage of luminous beings from the past, who come to assist you in your personal transformation.  Awakens the healing power in your hands so that everyone you touch is blessed. There is tremendous spiritual assistance available, and these luminous ones work in our sleep to heal the wounds of the past and of our ancestors.

Bands of Power

Five luminous energetic bands representing earth, air, fire, water, and pure light that are woven into the luminous energy field (LEF) for protection. Through Intent they act as filters, breaking down all negative energy that comes toward the person, into one of the five elements.  These energies then feed your LEF instead of making you sick. The Bands of Power are always ‘on’, and negative energies bounce right off them. In a world filled with fear, the bands provide essential protection. The Bands bring us into union with all of the elements. They do not insulate us from life, but rather deepen our connection and attunment with the Earth and all the elements.

Harmony Rite

You receive seven allies bringing gifts of transformation and harmony. Four allies,  organizing principles of creation, are placed into your four lower Chakras as well as three “Archangels” into your upper Chakras.  In the first Chakra, you receive the ally of serpent; jaguar goes into the second; hummingbird into the third; and eagle into the fourth; next you receive three archangels:  the Keeper of the Lower World (our unconscious), the Keeper of the Middle World (our waking world), and the Protector of the Upper World (our super conscious). These allies are transmitted into your Chakras as seeds of energy, each a particular vibration. This is a path of literal enlightenment – Infusing light into each Chakra.

Seer’s Rite

Reawakens the Shaman’s way to perceiving the World. Five luminous Extra-cerebral pathways of light are woven and installed that connect the visual cortex with the third eye and two are woven that connect the heart chakra to the visual cortex. This awakens the “inner seer” and your ability to perceive the invisible world of energy and Spirit.

Vibration of Angels and Archangels

Lineage Rites:

Daykeeper Rite

This is a lineage Rite of the Divine Feminine. You connect to a lineage of master healers from the past who have fully awakened their nurturing ways. Daykeepers are able to call on the ancient altars to heal and bring balance to the earth, call on the sun to rise each day, and bring humans into harmony with mother Earth following the cycle of life.  They are the midwives, herbalists and curanderas.  This rite helps you begin to heal your inner feminine, step beyond fear, and practice peace.

Wisdomkeeper’s Rite

This lineage rite offers gifts of the Divine Masculine. You connect to a lineage of luminous beings from the past and the future who have defeated death and stepped outside of time. This rite awakens stories that lift people up, speaking from a mythic realm to engage and lift with teaching stories. This rite is associated with the snow-capped mountains, perhaps a distant memory of our ancestors from the Himalayas. This rite helps you to begin to heal your inner masculine, step outside of time, become steeped in the medicine teachings and taste infinity.

Earthkeeper Rite

This rite connects you to the archangels that are guardians of our galaxy. The Earthkeepers, who are stewards of all life on the Earth, come under the direct protection of these archangels and can summon their power when they need to in order to bring healing and balance to any situation. This rite connects you to the stars, and to the sun, our local star. It helps you learn the ways of the seer and dream the world into being.

Starkeeper’s Rite

This rite anchors you safely to the time after the great change, said to occur around 2012.  Your physical body begins to evolve into homo luminous, the aging process is slowed down, your DNA is re-informed, and you become more resistant to disease. When you receive these rites, you acquire stewardship of the time to come and all future generations.
Creator Rite

Awakens the Creator-light within and brings forth a sense of stewardship for all creation, from the smallest grain of sand to the largest cluster of galaxies in the universe.  Once attained only through direct transmission from Spirit, it is now possible to transmit from one person to another.

As you work with the germination of these rites you’ll be touched and blessed by angels. You simply need to open yourself to the wisdom of the Earthkeepers, and all will be bestowed upon you.

Soul Retrieval Healing & Integration | Personal Healing Retreat

A return to Wholeness… Mending the fragmented self

This retreat weekend is for those looking for personal healing and is not a practitioner training. Soul loss can prevent us from creating healthy relationships and the life we truly wish to live. It is believed that whenever we suffer an emotional or physical trauma a part of our soul flees the body in order to survive the experience. Each participant will receive a Soul Retrieval Healing and we will explore follow-up integration work in a loving,  safe,  supportive and sacred group setting.    We will use shamanic journeying,   ritual and ceremony to enhance your experience,  and deepen your relationship with the spiritual world.

Event Details

The Soul Retrieval Healing and Integration Retreat will be facilitated by Kent Dorsey and Suzanne Savage,  Shamanic Practitioners, at Four Springs Retreat Center.

Four Springs is secluded on 280 acres of woods in the foothills north of Mount Saint Helena, approximately 85 miles from San Francisco, just north of the Napa valley near Middletown, CA. Named after the clear, refreshing water bubbling from natural springs located on the retreat’s grounds.

Four Springs has become a sacred place to generations of people whose inner work has helped shape Four Springs and has been nourished by it.

The lodge, cabins, art and meditation buildings, library and seminar room, together with pool, grape arbor, meadows and trails create a sanctuary that is removed from daily distractions. Four Springs offers nourishment to the soul, and the space and time to discern inner possibilities that otherwise go unnoticed. Four Springs is a rustic and natural setting where one is able to leave the ordinary world behind and connect with Spirit through nature and simplicity.

Shamanic Soul Retrieval Healing & Integration

Tuvan Stepe Eagle

A return to Wholeness… Mending the fragmented self

Soul Loss:

From a Shamanic perspective, it is believed that whenever we suffer an emotional or physical trauma a piece of our soul flees the body in order to survive the experience. This is understood as a brilliant self-dense mechanism where a part of our essence or soul leaves the body so that we do not feel the full impact of the pain. The pshychological definition is called dissociation… but the psychological models don’t define what leaves or where it goes.  It is vital to understand that soul loss is a good thing that happens to us. The Soul part or life essence that leaves does so to keep from being harmed in any way.

Each individual has a unique definition of what constitutes “Trauma”, what each considers as “Shocking”.  The events that trigger Soul Loss may range from an emotional or physical trauma, such as accidents, surgery, abuse, the trauma of war, being in a natural disaster, divorce, the death of a loved one; to a harsh word from a parent or teacher. This loss is caused by what you perceived as threatening and shocking  at that moment in time.

Soul loss can result in dissociation, post-traumatic stress syndrome, depression, illness, immune deficiency problems, addictions, unending grief, or coma. Soul loss can prevent us from creating healthy relationships and the life we truly wish to live.

Although soul loss is a survival mechanism, the problem from a shamanic point of view is that the soul part that left usually does not come back on its own. The soul might be lost, or stolen by another person, or doesn’t know the trauma has passed and it is safe to return.

It has always been the role of the shaman to go into an altered state of consciousness and track down where the soul fled to in the alternate realities and return it to the body of the client.

Shamanic Soul Retrieval Healing:

Shamanic Soul Retrieval  is a spiritual method of  healing in which the  shamanic practitioner’s role is to search out the lost fragments of your self/soul/life essence and, with the help and guidance of their compassionate spirits,  gather  and return them safely back to you. With this restoration of your life force, you are again able to move through your life in full power! The Soul Essence the Shamanic Practitioner retrieves is whole, pure, unharmed Soul/Life Essence. Remember, this left as part of a brilliant self defense mechanism… So what is returned is what left to keep from being harmed or experiencing pain. What is returned does not need to be healed as it is already whole.

Some Symptoms of Soul Loss Can Include:

Some symptoms of soul loss can include:

Soul Retrieval

by Sandra Ingerman

Imagine yourself sitting in a circle with members of your community. You have gathered together to support one community member who is suffering from a traumatic experience. You know that if one person is suffering and is ill it effects the entire community. So you have come to help hold the space for healing to happen.

It is dark and the stars are shining bright in the night sky. The air is still. Everyone feels held in the loving arms of the universe and there is no doubt that healing will happen for all gathered here.

The shaman begins to drum and dance calling the power of the universe to her as she puts her egoic self aside and becomes an empty vessel that fills with the help of the spirits.

The client lies quietly in the center breathing deeply to be in a receptive state to receive back his lost soul; his lost vitality.

The shaman sings her journey out loud as she tracks down where the soul has fled. And on finding it returns and blows it deeply into the heart of the client filling the entire body with the light of life.

There is a great joy for all as one heals all are healed. The community is now whole again and can be in peace and harmony.

The work is done.

Shamanism is the oldest spiritual practice known to humankind. We know from the archaeological evidence that shamanism was practiced all over the world for at least 40,000 years. However many anthropologists believe that the practice dates back over 100,000 years. And the most amazing thing is that shamanism is still practiced worldwide today. A practice that dates back so far and is still practiced today must be potent.

The word shaman comes from the Tungus tribe in Siberia and means “one who sees in the dark”. Shamanism has been practiced in parts of Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, Greenland, and Native North and South America.

A shaman is a man or woman who interacts directly with spirits to address the spiritual aspects of illness, perform soul retrievals, divine information, help the spirits of deceased people cross over, and perform a variety of ceremonies for the community. Shamans have taken on many roles in tribal communities. They have acted as healers, doctors, priests, psychotherapists, mystics, and storytellers.

Shamans look at the spiritual form of illness which might manifest on an emotional or physical level. When I was doing the research for my book Soul Retrieval Mending the Fragmented Self I found that most shamanic cultures around the world believe that illness is due to the loss of the soul.

It is believed that whenever we suffer an emotional or physical trauma a piece of our soul flees the body in order to survive the experience. The definition of soul that I am using is soul is our essence, life force, the part of our vitality that keeps us alive and thriving.

The types of trauma that could cause soul loss in our culture would be any kind of abuse sexual, physical, or emotional. Other causes could be an accident, being in a war, being a victim of a terrorist act, acting against our morals, being in a natural disaster (a fire, hurricane, earthquake, tornado, etc.), surgery, addictions, divorce, or death of a loved one.

Any event that causes shock could cause soul loss. And what might cause soul loss in one person might not cause soul loss in another. Shamans believe that alarm clocks can cause soul loss. I think we all know what they mean.

It is important to understand that soul loss is a good thing that happens to us. It is how we survive pain. If I was going to be in a head on car collision the last place that I would want to be at the point of impact is in my body. My psyche could not endure that kind of pain. So our psyches have this brilliant self protect mechanism where a part of our essence or soul leaves the body so that we do not feel the full impact of the pain.

In psychology we talk about this as dissociation. But in psychology we don’t talk about what dissociates and where that part goes. In shamanism we know that a piece of the soul leaves the body and goes to a territory in what shamans call non ordinary reality where it waits until someone intervenes in the spiritual realms and facilitates its return.

Although soul loss is a survival mechanism the problem from a shamanic point of view is that the soul part that left usually does not come back on its own. The soul might be lost, or stolen by another person, or doesn’t know the trauma has passed and it is safe to return.

It has always been the role of the shaman to go into an altered state of consciousness and track down where the soul fled to in the alternate realities and return it to the body of the client.

There are many common symptoms of soul loss. Some of the more common ones would be dissociation where a person does not feel fully in his or her body and alive and fully engaged in life. Other symptoms include chronic depression, suicidal tendencies, post traumatic stress syndrome, immune deficiency problems, and grief that just does not heal. Addictions are also a sign of soul loss as we seek external sources to fill up the empty spaces inside of us whether through substances, food, relationships, work, or buying material objects.

Anytime someone says I have never been the same since a certain event and they don’t mean this in a good way soul loss has probably occurred.

You can really see how much soul loss there is today as we put money over life. Anytime someone says that we have to kill other life forms for material gain that person must be suffering from soul loss. Anytime someone feels that buying one more car or that gathering material objects will bring happiness that person is suffering from the loss of soul. As you can see we are looking at a great deal of planetary soul loss today as you watch how we behave towards each other and the rest of life.

Coma is also soul loss. But in coma there is more of the soul out of body than in the body. Coma is very complicated to work with today for many reasons. It takes skill on behalf of the shaman to find out which way the soul is trying to go. Does the soul want to reenter the body or does it need help moving on which would lead to the death of the patient? There is a lot to say about this topic and it beyond the scope of this article.

Today there has been a resurgence in the interest of the practice of shamanism. We now have many hundreds of wonderful shamanic practitioners reintroducing the practice of soul retrievals into our culture.

It is interesting to note that as soul loss was so understood in shamanic cultures people who suffered traumas were given a soul retrieval within three days after a trauma occurred.

Today as we have not been practicing soul retrieval modern day practitioners are going back ten, twenty, thirty, or forty years or even more looking for lost soul parts.

Also in a shamanic culture the individuals knew what was out of balance in their lives that might have caused an illness or issue to occur.

In our culture we are unaware of what is out of spiritual harmony that is creating illness. And because often our soul loss happened so young we are unaware of the unconscious patterns we are living out due to our first soul loss. We are always trying to retrieve our soul. And how we do this is by repeating the same trauma over and over again. The names might change of the people involved in our life story, but the story is often the same.

The effects of having a soul retrieval vary person to person. Some people feel that they are more grounded in their body and feel more solid. Some people feel lighter and a joyful way of being returns to them. For some memories of the past traumas might be triggered bringing up a variety of feelings that must be worked through. And for some people the effects are too subtle to notice a change until further work to integrate the soul is done.

As people feel more present in their bodies and in the world they become more conscious of behavior that might be out of balance and disharmonious.

When we are numb we might be aware that things in the world are not right but we can easily distract ourselves from feeling a need to change. When we are fully “inspirited” there is no place to retreat to and we are more inspired to change our lives.

I believe that once a person has his or her soul brought back the client now has to do some work. If the person has done a lot of personal work the soul retrieval might be the end of the work. If not the soul retrieval would be the beginning of the work.

Now it is up to the client to look at how to create a healthy life style and attract healthy relationships that will support wholeness and a life filled with healing. How do we want to use the energy that was returned from the soul retrieval and our returned vitality to create a positive present and future for ourselves? And how do we bring passion and meaning back into our lives again so that we thrive instead of just survive? All these issues I call “life after healing” and are crucial to create long term healing after a soul retrieval.

I write about spiritual practices we can bring into our lives to create a positive present in future in my books Welcome Home: Following Your Soul’s Journey Home and Medicine for the Earth: How to Transform Personal and Environmental Toxins.

As you are reading this I am sure that you can see the relevance of soul retrievals in your own life and the importance to help people once again become “inspirited” for the sake of the planet.

This is vital work for the times we live in. The earth wants her children home and she wants them home now. It is time to come back home again and take our rightful place on the earth. It is our birthright to fully express our souls and create the world we want to live in. And it is our birthright to shine as brightly as the stars above us. It is time to share our light again in the world.

Council of Tuvan Shamans

Who should come for a Shamanic Session?

Many have felt a calling from spirit and are awakening to make a difference in this world. We, as a people, are on a vision quest. Living a vision and questing for more of who we truly can become. We invite you to discover  Shamanic Healing and engage the quest for deeper, broader vision of who and what you truly are.
Who should come for a Shamanic Session?

  • Are you ready to access the invisible world in our infinite universe?
  • Are you ready to access your OWN answers to questions about your life?
  • Are you ready to empower yourself to live a richer and more meaningful life?
  • Are ready to restore Balance and Harmony to your Life?
  • Are you at a transition point in your life, needing to make a next step forward and not sure how…
  • Are you ready to heal old wounds,  patterns, habits, compulsions and addictions that you’ve worked on before, but that just haven’t gone away…  Addictions are also a sign of soul loss as we seek external sources to fill up the empty spaces inside of us whether through substances, food, relationships, work, or buying material objects.
  • Are you ready to feel whole, fully in your body and alive and fully engaged in life?  Do you Feel  like there is “part of you missing?”  Do you ever say, “I’ve never felt the same since….?”
  • Do you suffer from chronic depression, anxiety attacks, suicidal tendencies, post traumatic stress syndrome, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, immune deficiency problems, low energy… and grief that just does not heal?
  • Are you psychically intuitive & sensitive ? Have you had metaphysical experiences and wondered how to work with them safely for the highest good?
  • Do you feel “energetically sensitive” or too easily intruded-upon by others’ thoughts or feelings…

The Conjure Dance is a dance ritual and ceremony with origins in New Orleans. It arose from the melting pot of many cultures and spiritual practices that had gathered in the deep south during the 1700’s. These cultures included: Native American, African, Creole, Cajun, French, Spanish and Caribbean.

During this time in history, the city of New Orleans and the surrounding areas comprised an incredibly cosmopolitan world. In this world there were ample opportunities for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, cuisine, fashion as well as spiritual practices. This interface and exchange provided fertile ground for the emergence of new and unique spiritual practices and ways to work effectively with the Helping Spirits. Many of these cultures already had strong traditions which influenced this new world and contributed greatly to what emerged next.

One common practice woven throughout these cultures was dance. Dance was not only a social activity, it also provided a way to directly access the realms of the Helping Spirits who were regularly invoked to resolve problems, cure illness, alleviate suffering and restore justice. People would gather regularly in community to commune with the spirits.

One place the people would gather in New Orleans was Congo Square. During the spiritual dances held in Congo Square, the drummers would beat improvised rhythms that would allow the dancers to transcend their ordinary state of consciousness and access spiritual states of consciousness. While in these spiritual states of consciousness they would merge with the Helping Spirits. Often times the presence and merging of the Helping Spirits would bring blessings to the entire community. On a larger scale, it was the melding of these many traditions and the dances that gave birth to a unique form of working with the Helping Spirits that was effectively used to address major shifts in community consciousness and healing. Out of the drumming, dancing, acknowledgment and willingness to work with the Helping Spirits also came the incredible rich and uniquely American musical traditions of what we now call jazz.

Although the exact origins of the Conjure Dance are not known, it proved to be a pivotal way of working effectively with the Helping Spirits as a means of returning balance and equality to a society whose sense of human dignity, compassion and equality was out of balance when the ravages and cruelties of slavery engulfed a fledgling nation culminating in a Civil War. In order to bring an end to slavery in the United States, the traditional spiritual practitioners of New Orleans jointly focused their efforts through the Conjure Dance with the intention to end slavery. They literally danced a new reality into existence using the Conjure Dance. Ultimately they prevailed and slavery was abolished.

Many cultures throughout the world continue to access altered states of consciousness and the spiritual realms through dance. The Conjure Dance remains a powerful ceremony of effective transformation and has emerged to help us once again work with the Helping Spirits to dance a new reality into existence. The tradition of the Conjure Dance continues today finding its way from the hot steamy city of New Orleans to the Bay Area, the Pacific Northwest [and beyond]. It is an incredibly powerful, energizing, uplifting, and serious ritual.  And, it is a beautiful way to come together as community, something that many of are drawn to in these times of global transition. The world is changing and it is time to conjure the new world in which we and our descendants will live.

The Conjure Dance is set to percussive music.  There is an invocation of powerful compassionate spirits to engage their help for a specific healing intention on behalf of the community. Everyone dances for this intention.  As we dance, the spirits become embodied for the purpose of assisting with our request for healing and transformation.

“Conjure is the magical means of transforming reality.” –Martha Ward
