Remembering Our Soul Journey ~ Winter | February 19 – 21, 2016

Walking the Spiral Path

Winter Header

Moving into Winter, we honor the North, the time of Union with Source and Transcendence. In shamanic cultures, winter is a time of death, a transition into transcendence.

Winter1

We remember our Soul Journey beyond roles and personality. We travel beyond time and space to that which is beyond Death. We honor our Descendants, dreaming a new dream for the times to come. We remember and claim our soul’s purpose.

As we release what no longer serves, we return to Center, coming back to things we thought we understood with Increased Knowledge, Seeing Deeper Truths.  With Love, we Create a New Dream of Transcendence, a new vision for our life and for the World.

Step up and work together in a circle of healing for yourself and the world!

Walking the Spiral Path is a blend of ancient and ancestral wisdom with modern contemporary shamanism. Walking the Spiral Path offers experiential practices of the Shaman for direct engagement with spirit. BIRTHING NEW BEGINNINGS ~ SPRING is a weekend intimate retreat in the Bay Area for all levels with Kent Dorsey and Girvani Leerer. Each weekend may be taken separately.

TESTIMONIALS

Girvani and Kent, I wanted to thank you for an amazing 3 days of release, discovery and transformation. The time, attention and intention put into creating the Birthing New Beginnings Retreat was evidenced by the beautiful setting of Spirit House, the profound and insightful journeys and meditations, and the wonderful food–I was truly nourished on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. It has only been a few days but the seeds of my new beginnings that I planted during this retreat are already growing, and I can feel spirit guiding me as I walk my spiral path.

SS, RN MPH

What a transformative retreat we just finished. Amazing place! Amazing people! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Heidi Page, Artist

I had an awesome retreat with Girvani and Kent as co-creators and looking forward to continue to grow and experience the next phase of my life. As someone relatively new to journeying, I found the wise teaching really helpful. I also appreciated being in a retreat setting where I could deeply immerse myself in the practice of journeying . Thank you for providing a safe healing space and healthy food.   I’m looking forward to continuing to work with both of you!
MLC

Kent Dorsey, Center for Shamanic Healing and Girvani Leerer, PhD, The Shamanic Psychologist, formed Earth Spirit Way to offer heart-centered teaching on Self Empowerment Through a Shamanic Way of Life. They bring a unique blend and balance of the Divine Feminine and Masculine, and of Core (Cross-Cultural) Shamanism and Andean Indigenous Wisdom to their teaching.

DO YOU WANT TO:

*** Shed old habits and worn-out ways of being and release what no longer serves you?

*** Access your own inner wisdom and answers?

*** Add spiritual and shamanic practices and ceremony into your daily life?

*** Use your empathic sensitivity without feeling overwhelmed?

*** Find your authentic voice?

*** Feel more whole, fully in your body, radiantly alive, and positively engaged in life?

Whether your goal is personal growth, healing and self empowerment; understanding your own divinity; learning the wisdom of the shamanic world view; joyful attainment of your dreams; greater understanding your Life’s Direction; or being a healing presence in the world; those who choose to walk this path with us will experience profound transformation and a renewed sense of purpose.

Walking the Spiral Path

You walk the spiral path from wherever you begin – whether a beginner, an experienced practitioner of shamanism or a spiritual practitioner – always deepening your path and growth in order to reach Transcendence.

Walking the Spiral Path continues throughout life. As we grow and deepen our learning we experience Birth and New Beginnings, Growing and Blossoming, Harvesting the Fruits, Remembering our Soul Journey and Creating a New Dream – letting go of old ways and roles each time we walk the Path to transcend, evolve and become more self empowered.

Each 3-Day intimate residential retreat may be taken separately.

Together the Series offers a path of Awakening, Initiation & Empowerment within a safe sacred community of like-minded people.

In each weekend, we will use the lens of the Cycles of Life and Nature as a guide to the Journey on our Personal Medicine Path.

Universal shamanic practices of direct engagement with Spirit will provide access to our personal wisdom and knowledge. Receiving ancient Shamanic rites will upgrade our DNA and energy body, connect us to a lineage of teachers and wisdom keepers and deepen and accelerate our Journey of transformation. We will create a personal altar, a Medicine Bundle, to hold our healing and empowerment.

5% of the Proceeds of Earth Spirit Way: Walking the Spiral Path will be donated to Greenpeace Fund to halt environmental destruction and promote international environmental change.

Remembering our Soul Journey – Winter  February 19 – 21, 2016

We turn the wheel once more on The Spiral Path, moving into Winter, Honoring the North. This is the time of death, of Union with Source. In shamanic cultures, death is not an end but a transition.  Our Community supports us in this transition.

We remember our Soul Journey beyond roles and personality. We travel beyond time and space to that which is beyond Death. We honor our ancestors who have helped us come into Being for our Soul Journey, and We remember and claim our soul’s purpose.

We take our place as stewards of the Earth.  We enter the darkness of Earth and the Void, seeds waiting to germinate, as we release what needs to die to gather energy from the transcendent Realms.

Follow-up Conference Call TBA April 2016

Upcoming Classes

Birthing New Beginnings – Spring  NEW SERIES BEGINS MAY 13-15, 2016

We begin to Walk the Spiral Path in the East within a Safe and Sacred Community. Honoring the Cycles of Nature, we enter the Labyrinth of Transformation in the Spring, the Time of new beginnings and the dawning of a new way to Be in the world.

Our journey starts with our Intention and Imagination to vision our path and our highest possibility. We discover and connect with our helping spirits and guides in a process that continues throughout our journey. Spending time with Nature and the land, we begin to reconnect and remember our place in Nature and with All our Relations.

We find our personal Creation story and experience the deep love from which we were created, and in ceremony we experience our Birth to this Earth Walk. We walk the path to our personal transformation and to awaken our healing power and presence.

Follow-up Conference Call TBA July 2015

Growing and Blossoming – Summer  August 12-14, 2016

We continue our Journey with a turn of the wheel along The Spiral Path, Growing and Blossoming into Summer, Honoring the South. We come together to deepen Community and Grow our Potential.

With Concentration and Focus we find and clear the old stories that keep us bound to the past, identifying with our history and trapped in unhealthy patterns. Honoring what has been and finding the gifts in these experiences we unleash fuel for our journey of growth and blossoming.

Re-inventing ourselves, we shed the old worn out ways of walking in the world. We find our new power through our Spirit Animal Ally and our Power Song.

Harvesting the Fruits – Fall   Nov 11-13, 2016

We continue our Journey with another turn of the wheel along the Spiral Path, Maturing into Fall, Honoring the West. We return to harvest and give thanks for the gifts of Growth and Blossoming. Entering the Dark time of the year, we find Rest and Nurturance, a place to pause and de-stress from busy lives and the hectic holiday season.

We come into Harmony and Balance by honoring our whole Selves, our Shadow aspects: from our lives, our ancestral lineages, our karmic legacy. We honor the shadow as a healing energy embodied in the dark of the Moon cycle. We open to healing and reclaim and restore our power.

 What is Shamanism?…

Shamanism is the oldest spiritual practice known to humankind. This ancient and powerful path teaches us that everything in existence is alive and has a spirit.  We are part of Nature , not standing outside of it.  Through the web of life we are connected to all  life on all levels; Spiritually, Biologically,  Ecologically  and Socially. We can contact and relate to all there is through this web. We know from the archaeological evidence that shamanism has been practiced  Worldwide; in parts of Asia, Siberia, Europe, Africa, Australia, Greenland and native North, Central and South America for at least 40,000 years. (Many anthropologists believe that the practice dates back over 100,000 years.)  Every culture has their own traditions and ways of contacting, working with the spirits and the spiritual aspects of Nature itself.  The cross cultural experiences of this unseen realm are surprisingly similar the world over…  And the most amazing thing is that shamanism is still practiced worldwide today. A practice that dates back so far and is still practiced today must be potent.

Shamanism is for skeptics!

It is 100% experiential. You are not asked to believe anything or to take anything on faith. Only your own direct experience will guide you. There is no dogma or need for spiritual middlemen. This is a practical results based Spiritual discipline.  Shamanism is not a Religion. It is a personal spiritual practice grounded in direct communication with the divine. This is a path of  personal Direct Revelation. There are no intermediaries that stand between the helping spirits and each of us. We all can choose to access  the healing,  guidance and wisdom of the compassionate helping Spirits.

The word “shaman” comes from the Evenki peoples, a Tungusic tribe in Siberia.

In Shamanic cultures it has evolved to  mean “one who sees in the dark” or “one who knows”, reflecting the extraordinary spiritual abilities and talents as an intermediary between their peoples and the Spirit worlds.  A shaman is a man or woman who interacts directly with spirits to address the spiritual aspects of illness, perform soul retrievals, divine information, help the spirits of deceased people cross over, and perform a variety of ceremonies for the community. Shamans have taken on many roles in tribal communities acting as healers, doctors, priests, psychotherapists, mystics, dreamers and storytellers.

What is A Conjure Dance?

What is a Conjure Dance?
© Robert F. Bailey

NOTE: These notes shall only be used, distributed or reproduced with the written permission of the author, Robert F. Bailey.

The Conjure Dance is a dance ritual and ceremony with origins in New Orleans. It arose from the melting pot of many cultures and spiritual practices that had gathered in the deep south during the 1700’s. These cultures included: Native American, African, Creole, Cajun, French, Spanish and Caribbean.

During this time in history, the city of New Orleans and the surrounding areas comprised an incredibly cosmopolitan world. In this world there were ample opportunities for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, cuisine, fashion as well as spiritual practices. This interface and exchange provided fertile ground for the emergence of new and unique spiritual practices and ways to work effectively with the Helping Spirits. Many of these cultures already had strong traditions which influenced this new world and contributed greatly to what emerged next.

One common practice woven throughout these cultures was dance. Dance was not only a social activity, it also provided a way to directly access the realms of the Helping Spirits who were regularly invoked to resolve problems, cure illness, alleviate suffering and restore justice. People would gather regularly in community to commune with the spirits.

One place the people would gather in New Orleans was Congo Square. During the spiritual dances held in Congo Square, the drummers would beat improvised rhythms that would allow the dancers to transcend their ordinary state of consciousness and access spiritual states of consciousness. While in these spiritual states of consciousness they would merge with the Helping Spirits. Often times the presence and merging of the Helping Spirits would bring blessings to the entire community. On a larger scale, it was the melding of these many traditions and the dances that gave birth to a unique form of working with the Helping Spirits that was effectively used to address major shifts in community consciousness and healing. Out of the drumming, dancing, acknowledgment and willingness to work with the Helping Spirits also came the incredible rich and uniquely American musical traditions of what we now call jazz.

Although the exact origins of the Conjure Dance are not known, it proved to be a pivotal way of working effectively with the Helping Spirits as a means of returning balance and equality to a society whose sense of human dignity, compassion and equality was out of balance when the ravages and cruelties of slavery engulfed a fledgling nation culminating in a Civil War. In order to bring an end to slavery in the United States, the traditional spiritual practitioners of New Orleans jointly focused their efforts through the Conjure Dance with the intention to end slavery. They literally danced a new reality into existence using the Conjure Dance. Ultimately they prevailed and slavery was abolished.

Many cultures throughout the world continue to access altered states of consciousness and the spiritual realms through dance. The Conjure Dance remains a powerful ceremony of effective transformation and has emerged to help us once again work with the Helping Spirits to dance a new reality into existence. The tradition of the Conjure Dance continues today finding its way from the hot steamy city of New Orleans to the Bay Area, the Pacific Northwest [and beyond]. It is an incredibly powerful, energizing, uplifting, and serious ritual.  And, it is a beautiful way to come together as community, something that many of are drawn to in these times of global transition. The world is changing and it is time to conjure the new world in which we and our descendants will live.

The Conjure Dance is set to percussive music.  There is an invocation of powerful compassionate spirits to engage their help for a specific healing intention on behalf of the community. Everyone dances for this intention.  As we dance, the spirits become embodied for the purpose of assisting with our request for healing and transformation.

“Conjure is the magical means of transforming reality.” –Martha Ward
